You don’t want to invest in a depreciating liability. What you want, is to invest in an accreditation which generates money for your training business
— Live coaching with Mark Houlihan, new training business owner
Today is a live coaching call with a trainer who has wants to know whether he should invest in an accreditation such as MBTI, DiSC, Insights Discovery etc. and how he can be sure they are going to generate income for his training business.
As trainers, many of us believe that we need certifications, accreditations and all sorts of qualifications when we start our training business.
MBTI, Hogan, ATD, TTT, TAP, Belbin, Kolbe, Insights Discovery etc. Which one and why?
It can be very confusing….(and very expensive). And that’s before you have earned a single dollar!
Is there a business case for your investing several thousand dollars / pounds / euros in an accreditation?
Has a customer specifically asked you for this or are you just telling yourself that you *think* you *might* need it? How are you going to generate demand?
Have you factored in all the costs (including recertification) before you reach for the credit card? How are you going to make your money back?
Mark Houlihan has just started his training business so this is a wonderful opportunity to share his thoughts with you and to give him some feedback in the form of a coaching call on the subject of investing in accreditation.
